Reed Insurance London are looking for a candidate to join a dynamic team at a leading insurance solutions provider specialising in SME commercial package policies. They are seeking a Construction / Liability Underwriter with a strong background in underwriting wages and turnover business. This role is crucial for managing insurer and broker relationships effectively and driving the business forward.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Underwrite a high volume of wages and turnover business with an average premium of circa £3,000, with potential up to £100,000.


• Interpret and modify policy/endorsement wordings as necessary.


• Work autonomously once trained, aiming to achieve personal targets.


• Determine policy terms and calculate premiums in line with both in-house authority limits and insurer binding authority agreements.


• Adhere to the company's underwriting controls to contribute to loss ratio control.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with key trading partners to maximize influence and drive the acquisition of profitable business.


• Support the development and operation of sales campaigns.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a construction / liability underwriting role.


• Cert CII qualified as a minimum; DIP CII is desirable.


• Strong underwriting fundamentals and good market knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.


• Excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills.


• Proven ability to develop key working relationships and business opportunities.


• Strong analytical, numeracy, and literacy skills.
