The role
We're looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our UK operations desk at Pencoed, working alongside our established planning team to support the day\-to\-day movements of our core fleet of 10 vehicles. Subcontracting is handled separately by the wider team – your focus is keeping our own fleet running tight, profitable and on time. Strong organisation and a think\-outside\-the\-box attitude are essential; no two days on the desk look the same.
What you'll be doing
- Planning and routing daily work across our core fleet of 10 vehicles, maximising utilisation and protecting service levels
- Supporting our experienced planning team with same\-day, next\-day and dedicated UK loads
- Managing live jobs from booking through to POD, keeping drivers and customers updated and resolving issues on the move
- Working in our transport management system to book, cost and track shipments
- Costing and quoting specialist movements – HIAB, oversized, wag \& drag, multi\-vehicle jobs
- Liaising with drivers, depots and customers to keep work flowing and on time
- Thinking creatively about routing, vehicle pairing and job sequencing to get the most out of every asset
- Spotting cost and service improvements and feeding them back into the wider operation
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Transport Planner, Traffic Planner or similar in UK haulage or logistics
- Strong knowledge of UK geography, driver hours and working\-time rules
- Confident user of a transport management system
- Highly organised with a sharp eye for detail
- A think\-outside\-the\-box mindset – the best planners on our desk find solutions others miss
- Calm under pressure with strong commercial instincts
- Sharp communicator, comfortable on the phone with drivers and customers
- Exposure to HIAB, abnormal loads or other specialist work is a real advantage but not essential – we'll train the right person

Location
This is an on\-site role based at our Pencoed HQ – not hybrid or remote. You'll need to live within a sensible commute of Bridgend, Cardiff, Pontypridd or the surrounding area.
