Position:
-------------

New Product Request (NPR) Reporting \& Accountability

  • Own the fortnightly product strategy meetings, presenting comprehensive findings on New Product Requests (NPR).

  • Provide strict, evidence\-based recommendations on whether to proceed with, pause, or scrap prospective products.
New Product Introduction (NPI) \& Commercialisation
  • Create detailed NPI handover packs for the Website Product Administrator to ensure seamless product launches.

  • Compile all necessary product data, including accurate costings, proposed sales prices, cross\-selling/add\-on opportunities, and product variants.

  • Provide robust technical information required for specification sheets and Operations \& Maintenance (O\&M) manuals.
Post\-Launch Review \& Stakeholder Reporting
  • Continuous Improvement Loop: Conduct comprehensive post\-launch performance reviews to assess forecast accuracy, sales volume, and margin health against initial projections.

  • Use these post\-launch insights to continuously adapt, tweak, and refine your market research and forecasting frameworks, ensuring the business learns from every launch.

  • Produce and distribute a fortnightly product report to all key company stakeholders, highlighting actionable insights, market trends, and shifting commercial landscapes.
Product Roadmap Management
  • Help curate and drive the company’s product roadmap, ensuring all approved NPI ranges are integrated into the pipeline with realistic, prompt timescales.
New Product Validation (NPV) \& Research Operations

You will own and oversee the NPV Assessment for prospective projects, ensuring no product moves forward without passing strict commercial gateways:

  • Established Market Research: Analyse current market conditions and emerging trends. Crucially, this includes gathering direct input from the sales team and analysing 'lost sales' reasons to identify genuine customer pain points and product gaps.

  • Total Addressable Market (TAM) Analysis: Determine the true potential opportunity of a product via hands\-on market research, strategic phone calls, and face\-to\-face meetings with target market segments.

  • Commercial Snapshot Analysis: Create concise, data\-driven overviews of the financial feasibility and expected Return on Investment (ROI) for initial concepts.

  • Competitor \& Market Selling Comparison: Benchmark proposed products against existing market offerings, analysing competitor pricing, quality, and unique selling propositions (USPs).

  • Provisional Forecasting: Develop initial sales forecasts and volume predictions to guide purchasing and manufacturing, ensuring these are highly scrutinised and grounded in market reality.

  • Regulatory \& Compliance Assessment: Ensure prospective products meet all relevant UK building regulations, health and safety standards, and material certifications (e.g., BS EN standards for steel and fencing).

  • Supply Chain \& Sustainability Evaluation: Assess the sourcing viability and environmental impact of new materials, aligning with the industry's growing focus on sustainable construction.
Requirements:
-----------------
  • Experience: A proven track record in a dedicated commercial research or product development role, with demonstrable success in professional reporting and data\-led decision making.

  • Industry Knowledge: A basic understanding of technical metal, steel, or construction products is highly advantageous. However, comprehensive training will be provided for the right candidate.

  • Mobility: A valid UK driving licence is essential, as the role requires regular travel to trade shows, industry events, and client meetings to gather on\-the\-ground product intelligence.

  • Attributes: Highly analytical, commercially astute, confident in challenging the status quo, and capable of working autonomously whilst maintaining strong collaborative links with sales and product teams.
