As a Transport Supervisor you will be a key member of Transport Management Team, responsible for overseeing the day\-to\-day operations of a busy and growing transport department.
Shift: 10:30pm \- 7:30am (5 days out of 7\)
Salary: £40,000 \- £44,000 per Annum
In this role you will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of goods to customers across London and the South East, while supporting a large team of drivers contributing to continuous improvement in service and team performance.
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
Operational Insights
- Supervise the overnight transport operations of 90\+ vehicles (3\.5T to 12T) and 130\+ drivers and drivers' mates
- Ensure all drivers are equipped with the correct and relevant documentation prior to departure.
- Issue all drivers with the correct working equipment, to ensure excellent service levels are achieved
- Monitor delivery performance and ensure compliance with traffic laws and customer service standards
- Support operational delivery requirements by completing deliveries when necessary.
- Promote and enforce adherence to company procedures and transport regulations
- Audit and oversight of vehicle check process, ensuring quality adherence
- Liaise with drivers and office staff to manage route changes and mitigate service disruptions
- Oversight of compliance with all driver processes, refueling, key management and returns
- Provide operational support and guidance to drivers and drivers' mates throughout the shift
- Respond to queries from senior management, customers, and drivers in a timely and professional manner
- Be the bridge between customer service and drivers' teams, ensuring repeat issues are avoided and solutions implemented in a quick and effective manner
- Participate in performance management processes including annual reviews, quarterly 1\-2\-1's, probation reviews and absence management
- Oversee people processes such as recorded conversations, investigations and disciplinaries in line with company policy
- Coach, develop and guide both members of the dispatch team and drivers to progress towards best in class delivery service
- Proven experience in a transport or logistics supervisory role
- Familiarity with Transport Management Systems
- Full, Valid UK Driving Licence
- Computer literate
- Strong leadership and team management capability
- Effective communication skills across all levels and departments
- Proactive and positive approach to problem\-solving and team motivation
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Ability to manage and delegate workloads in a fast\-paced environment
- Competent in MS Outlook, Excel and Word
