Transport Planner - Weighbridge Administrator
Company Overview
Vetspeed Ltd, a multi\-functional site, operating as both a pet crematorium and as a specialist waste treatment and disposal facility, is looking to appoint a Transport Planner – Weighbridge Operator to assist with operations at our site in Royston on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. This is a fixed\-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Transport Planner and Weighbridge Administrator to join our team in the United Kingdom. This role is vital in coordinating transportation logistics and managing weighbridge operations to ensure efficient waste collection and disposal processes align with the company's and our customers' needs.
Responsibilities
- Planning collections and deliveries in cost efficient manner for internal stakeholders.
- Notify Transport Manager of any day\-to\-day issues affecting delivery performance.
- Allocating work to third party approved hauliers where necessary.
- Quality control of incoming requests for transport from internal stakeholders to ensure supplied information is accurate.
- Ensure compliance with drivers operating hours and keep overtime to a minimum.
- Review routing for rounds to ensure operating efficiently.
- Managing input of third\-party waste material over the weighbridge and ensuring that all relevant paperwork is completed correctly and that waste is suitable for admission to site.
- Cover for Transport Admin role.
- Experience in vehicle routing and transport planning.
- Understanding of tachograph regulations and compliance.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with transport planning systems (e.g. Purgo) – however, training can be provided.
- Ability to interpret KPIs and identify trends or performance drivers
- Capable of using data insights to inform decisions and drive improvements.
- Experience modelling operational changes, including fleet growth and P\&L impact.
- Proven people management experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Calm and composed when handling challenging or high\-pressure situations.
- Proactive problem\-solver with a practical, solutions\-focused approach.
- Quick to respond and adapt to operational issues.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident negotiator with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Forward\-thinking with the ability to plan ahead effectively.
