Transport Operator / European Transport Planner
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Operator / European Transport Planner to join a successful and growing international logistics business.
Working within a busy European road freight operation, you'll be responsible for planning and coordinating transport movements across the UK and Europe, ensuring customers receive a high\-quality, reliable service while maximising operational efficiency.
This role would suit someone with previous experience in transport planning, freight forwarding or European road logistics who enjoys working in a fast\-paced, customer\-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily UK and European road freight movements.
- Manage collections and deliveries, ensuring service levels are achieved.
- Liaise with customers, drivers, suppliers and partner hauliers throughout the transport process.
- Monitor vehicle movements and proactively resolve delays or operational issues.
- Book subcontractors and negotiate transport solutions where required.
- Maintain accurate records within the Transport Management System (TMS).
- Communicate shipment updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with operational requirements.
- Work closely with colleagues to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Support customs or compliance processes where applicable.
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Operator, Transport Planner, European Transport Planner, Freight Forwarder or similar logistics role.
- Knowledge of UK and European road freight operations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem\-solving abilities.
- Good IT skills and experience using transport management systems.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Customs knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential.
