To keep our wheels turning smoothly through the night, we are looking for a reliable, highly organized, and proactive Night Shift Transport Operations Coordinator to join our busy team.
Job Description / Key Responsibilities
As the heartbeat of our night\-time operations, you will take full ownership of the transport desk during the night shift. You will ensure our drivers, vehicles, and schedules are perfectly aligned while proactively solving any logistical puzzles that happen on the road.
Your day\-to\-day duties will include:
- Driver \& Asset Allocation: Efficiently allocating drivers to their routes, jobs, and vehicles, ensuring compliance with drivers' hours regulations.
- Live Operations Management: Monitoring ongoing night journeys, tracking progress, and acting as the first point of contact to resolve tracking, breakdown, or delivery issues smoothly.
- Trans\-shipping : Assisting with trans\-shipping and cross\-docking of goods through the hub during the night shift.
- Workshop Collaboration: Liaising with our on\-site workshop team and night shift mechanics in case of any breakdowns etc. .
- Reporting \& Handover: Using Microsoft Excel to produce simple, accurate night\-shift operational reports, managing Outlook communications, and conducting a comprehensive morning handover to the day shift team.
- Experience (Essential): Proven, hands\-on experience working within a busy UK transport office environment or haulage logistics desk. You must understand driver regulations and transport workflows from day one.
- Problem\-Solving Skills: Excellent, natural problem solver who can think on your feet, handle unexpected transport issues calmly, and make decisive choices independently under pressure.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel (for shift data and reports) and Microsoft Outlook (for clear email communications).
- Forklift Licence (Desirable): A valid counterbalance forklift licence is highly desirable to assist with trans\-shipping goods when required.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to manage, guide, and support HGV drivers.
- Commitment: Reliability and punctuality are essential to cover the full 19:30 to 06:00 shift pattern.
