TRANSPORT MANAGER
People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Transport Manager to join our well-established client based in Coventry.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading organisation where you will play a key role in managing transport, warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring customers receive a first-class delivery service while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety and operational performance.
This role will suit candidates with experience as a Transport Manager, Distribution Manager, Logistics Manager, Warehouse & Transport Manager, Operations Manager, Depot Manager or Distribution Centre Manager.
Salary:
- £39,140 per annum
- 37.5 hours per week
- Shift-based role
- Flexibility required to support operational requirements

As a Transport Manager, your duties will include:
- Managing warehouse and transport operations to ensure customer orders are delivered accurately and on time
- Overseeing the unloading, receiving and storage of goods within the distribution centre
- Ensuring stock is handled safely and maintained in excellent condition
- Managing vehicle utilisation and reducing the risk of vehicle overloading
- Ensuring all vehicles are maintained, inspected and serviced in line with legal requirements
- Managing driver compliance, qualifications and training records
- Monitoring transport costs and ensuring the efficient use of vehicles and resources
- Managing stock control processes and stock accuracy within the warehouse
- Leading, motivating and developing warehouse and transport teams
- Delivering training in safe moving, handling and loading procedures
- Managing third-party suppliers and transport providers where required
- Ensuring warehouse security procedures are maintained at all times
- Managing Health & Safety compliance across the warehouse and transport operation
- Producing management reports on operational performance, delivery service and KPIs
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues to maintain excellent customer satisfaction levels
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Logistics Manager, Distribution Manager or similar leadership role
- Experience within a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience coaching, developing and motivating teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Strong knowledge of transport compliance, fleet management and Health & Safety regulations
- Experience managing KPIs, operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service
- Flexibility to support evening and weekend operational requirements
- Experience managing both warehouse and transport operations
- Experience within a fast-paced distribution environment
- Previous responsibility for compliance, fleet management and operational performance
- Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your employment
