Transport Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee and optimise our transportation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing logistics, supervising staff, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods across various channels. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in supply chain management, warehouse operations, and process improvement. The Transport Manager will play a vital part in maintaining seamless transportation workflows while adhering to safety standards and budgetary constraints.

Duties

• Oversee daily transportation activities, including shipping \& receiving, freight scheduling, and route planning.


• Supervise logistics staff and coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and collection of goods.


• Utilise transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track shipments and optimise routes.


• Manage relationships with third\-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure service levels are met or exceeded.


• Monitor profit \& loss statements related to transportation costs and implement strategies for process improvement and cost reduction.


• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including forklift operation standards and warehouse safety protocols.


• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing waste, and streamlining supply chain processes.


• Coordinate shipping \& receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control.


• Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety procedures and conducting regular training sessions.

• Proven experience in supervising transportation or logistics teams with strong leadership capabilities.


• Extensive knowledge of supply chain management, logistics operations, and warehouse management systems.


• Experience working with 3PL providers, shipping \& receiving processes, and forklift operation.


• Strong understanding of profit \& loss management within a logistics context.


• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.


• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data for continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay: £45,000\.00 per year
