Transport Manager – Sutton\-in\-Ashfield
We are a friendly and growing logistics company looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to take ownership of transport compliance and fleet management at our Sutton\-in\-Ashfield depot.
This is a standalone Transport Manager role, supported by a Driver Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the depot’s fleet and drivers, working closely with the operational team to maintain high standards and support the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for managing Operator Licence compliance at the depot.
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained in a safe, roadworthy and compliant condition.
- Manage fleet maintenance schedules, MOTs, inspections, servicing and defect reporting.
- Ensure driver licences, qualifications and compliance records are checked and kept up to date.
- Monitor drivers’ hours, tachograph records and infringements, ensuring appropriate follow\-up action is taken.
- Investigate vehicle defects, incidents, accidents and insurance claims.
- Monitor driver performance, fuel usage, telematics data and driving behaviour.
- Manage compliance systems and maintain accurate fleet records and documentation.
- Liaise with maintenance providers, insurers and regulatory bodies where required.
- Manage vehicle taxation, toll schemes, congestion charges, ULEZ registrations and permit requirements.
- Work with the Driver Manager to support driver recruitment, onboarding, induction and ongoing training.
- Ensure drivers complete all required CPC, eLearning and compliance training.
- Support disciplinary investigations relating to driving standards and compliance issues.
- Manage fleet costs, review invoices and support transport budgeting.
- Participate in the transport management on\-call rota, with additional pay.
- Work closely with the Driver Manager and operational teams to maintain excellent customer service.
- Previous experience in transport management, fleet management or transport compliance.
- Strong understanding of Operator Licence requirements and fleet compliance.
- Knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachograph rules, vehicle maintenance systems and defect reporting procedures.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership and prioritise a busy workload.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Experience managing a mixed commercial vehicle fleet.
- Experience using telematics and fleet management software.
- Knowledge of FORS standards and experience dealing with the DVSA and Traffic Commissioner.

Pay: £39,000\.00\-£43,000\.00 per year
