The role:

This is an Annex 21 Development Post, supporting progression to the substantive Band 7 Osteoporosis Nurse Specialist role upon successful completion of the agreed education programme and competency framework.

The post is offered as part of a structured development programme, with salary and progression aligned to national Annex 21 terms and conditions.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Hours: 21\.41 hours per week (0\.59 WTE)

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part\-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

Workig as part of the North Sector Osteoporosis Service, the successful candidate will assess, support and manage patients with osteoporosis and fragility fractures. The postholder will provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals while developing expertise in osteoporosis assessment, treatment and ongoing monitoring.

The role also involves contributing to fracture prevention and bone health improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with consultants, GPs, Allied Health Professionals and wider multidisciplinary teams. In addition, the postholder will participate in service development, audit and quality improvement activities and will undertake a structured development programme to achieve the competencies required of the substantive Osteoporosis Nurse Specialist role.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Registered Nurse qualification with current NMC registration.

  • Significant post\-registration nursing experience.

  • Experience within endocrinology, rheumatology, orthopaedics, elderly care, rehabilitation, or another relevant specialty.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to continuing professional development and specialist practice.

  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for patients with osteoporosis and bone health conditions.

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (desirable but not essential).
