Sheffield \| Trainee Events Manager \| Full\-time \| 37\.5 hours per week

When you attend a conference, trade show, or pop\-up brand activation, you are probably the person noticing the moving parts behind the scenes—how the entrance flow is managed, whether vendor schedules are running to time, and how floor teams handle unexpected changes without creating fuss. You naturally think in terms of logistics, timing, and clear organization.

If you are looking to build a career in live event delivery, venue coordination, and project management across South Yorkshire, this full\-time trainee role provides a practical, structured starting point. We are expanding our regional event operations and need an organized, level\-headed Trainee Events Manager to learn event planning, supplier liaison, and floor leadership from the ground up.

Role and Responsibilities

Working directly alongside our senior event managers on projects across Sheffield and the wider region, your core duties will include:

  • Assisting with the production of detailed event run sheets, site floor plans, and staff schedules.

  • Liaising with venue leads, AV suppliers, and catering partners ahead of build\-out days.

  • Supervising on\-site promotional and support staff during live activations to maintain service standards.

  • Monitoring event schedules during live delivery to ensure presentations, check\-ins, and demonstrations start on time.

  • Tracking shift costs, equipment rental logs, and petty cash against assigned event budgets.

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines, crowd flow controls, and venue risk assessments.

  • Serving as an operational contact point for clients, vendors, and venue managers during live setups.

  • Overseeing post\-event pack\-downs, equipment audits, and helping draft client debrief reports.
What We’re Looking For

We value methodical planning, composure under shift pressure, and clear communication far more than years of previous event management experience. We look for:

  • A structured approach to handling checklists, project timelines, and supplier details.

  • Clear, professional communication when speaking with venue partners, contractors, and corporate clients.

  • Natural problem\-solving skills and a calm approach when live event schedules need quick adjustment.

  • Strong personal standards regarding punctuality, professional reliability, and thorough preparation.

  • Basic comfort with figures for logging event expenditures and inventory counts.

  • Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, administration, retail, university society management, or sales is a plus, but not essential as full training is provided.
Training and Career Progression

This program offers a clear, step\-by\-step path to move from supporting live floor delivery to running complete event accounts independently.

Your training begins by shadowing experienced event managers through the entire lifecycle of local projects—from initial site walkthroughs and supplier booking to live floor supervision and post\-event reporting. Through regular one\-to\-one coaching sessions, you will receive constructive feedback on your floor management, budget tracking, and vendor coordination. As your operational confidence develops, you will take lead responsibility for smaller activations before stepping into full Events Manager duties.

  • Competitive base salary

  • Enhanced pay rates for weekend event shifts

  • Performance\-based bonuses linked to event delivery standards and client feedback

  • Full initial training covering event production, compliance, and supplier coordination

  • Regular one\-to\-one coaching and continuous skill progression
