Dental Care Ireland have an excellent opportunity available for a Trainee Dental Nurse/Receptionist to join our Douglas, Co Cork practice. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in Dental Nursing. Full training will be provided for this role.

  • Permanent, part\-time role. 23 hours, 3 days per week \- Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

  • You must be eligible to work in Ireland.

  • You must have proficient written and verbal English.

  • 1\+ years’ experience in a customer/patient facing administration/reception role is essential.

Reporting to: Practice Manager/Lead Dental Nurse

Summary of Role

The Trainee Dental Nurse/Receptionist is a training role which will be provided with training/shadowing to enable them to be responsible for providing excellence in service through the efficient management of patients both at reception and in surgery. The Trainee Dental Nurse/Receptionist will work in close partnership with the dental and reception team, take instruction from the Dentist and practice manager, and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for clinical policies and procedures in the practice; as set out by Dental Care Ireland and other regulatory bodies, including the Dental Council of Ireland. They may be required to attend college and study for their dental nursing qualification, in addition to the day\-to\-day duties of their role as Trainee Dental

Tasks and Responsibilities

*Dental Nursing duties:*

  • Working closely with the Dentist, providing chair side assistance to ensure the professional, accurate and timely completion of treatments and relevant records as required for patient care.

  • Ensuring clinical tests and audits are completed as required on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

  • Ensure that all tasks are fully compliant with the scope of practice as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland.

  • Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate.

  • Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for the smooth running of the practice.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Ensure that any incident relating to patient safety is notified to the Dental Surgeon and is recorded.

  • Liaise with reception team to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of records.

  • Reporting any local facilities issues to the Practice Manager
*Reception Duties:*
  • Providing excellence in customer service.

  • Greeting and registering patients on a day\-to\-day basis at the reception desk.

  • Providing information and reassurance to patients about their treatment.

  • Handling, recording and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines.

  • Phone and email management throughout the day.

  • Daily cashing up exercise for the practice.

  • Appointment book management to ensure maximisation of working hours.

  • Providing support to clinicians by sending prescriptions, referral letters, x\-rays etc.

  • Performing any local administration tasks such as filing/scanning/lodgements/postage etc.

  • Payor claim administration for GMS/PRSI/VHI/DeCare.

  • Claims and ensuring accuracy of claim forms.

  • Running daily, weekly and monthly reports from Exact.

  • Completion of various spreadsheets for accounts purposes (i.e. cash sheet, trackers etc).

  • Key holder duties.
