Trainee Construction Project Manager
Job Description
We are a growing London\-based refurbishment and construction company working across residential and light commercial projects. We are looking for a sharp, reliable and proactive person to join the team in a mixed office and site\-based role.
This role would suit someone who understands construction, enjoys being organised, and is comfortable dealing with trades, suppliers, clients and internal management. You do not need to know everything, but you do need to be switched on, willing to learn quickly, and able to take ownership without needing to be chased every five minutes.
This is not just an admin role and it is not just a site role. You will be helping to keep projects moving properly from both sides — office coordination and site follow\-up.
Main Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Visiting sites across London to check progress, take photos/videos, and report back clearly.
- Helping organise labour, materials, deliveries and appointments.
- Speaking with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and the office team.
- Updating project notes, schedules, task boards and internal systems.
- Assisting with client updates and making sure communication is clear.
- Tracking outstanding works, snagging items and follow\-up tasks.
- Helping prepare basic scopes of work, schedules and project breakdowns.
- Making sure sites are presentable, organised and progressing as planned.
- Supporting the management team with day\-to\-day operations.
- Helping keep projects moving instead of letting problems sit and grow teeth.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual and consistent.
- Confident speaking to people on site and in the office.
- Organised and good with notes, photos, WhatsApp, email and calendar updates.
- Able to think ahead and spot problems early.
- Comfortable working under pressure when projects are busy.
- Practical, sensible and not afraid to get involved.
- Professional with clients but firm enough with trades when needed.
- Good with basic technology, including email, Google Calendar, spreadsheets and project management systems.
- Interested in construction/refurbishment and willing to grow with the company.
Construction experience is preferred, especially in refurbishment, property maintenance, residential projects or site coordination.
You do not need to be a fully qualified project manager, but you must have some understanding of how building sites work. This could suit someone who has worked as a trainee site manager, project coordinator, construction administrator, supervisor, tradesperson looking to move into management, or someone with strong operations experience in construction.
A driving licence is strongly preferred due to site visits across London.
What We Offer
- A genuine opportunity to grow into a project management or operations role.
- Mixed office and site\-based work — no two days are the same.
- Exposure to real construction projects from start to finish.
- Support from an experienced team.
- Long\-term progression for the right person.
- Salary dependent on experience.
This position provides a comprehensive pathway into the construction industry, fostering professional growth through practical experience and specialised training. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and eager to develop their expertise in managing complex projects from inception to completion.
Pay: £20,000\.00\-£30,000\.00 per year
