Job description
Trainee Clinical Manager required for Residential/Nursing home.
This role is only open to candidates who are willing to cover any tattoo visible when wearing a short sleeve polo shirt. Milsom House and its grounds is a non\-smoking/vaping environment.

Are you an experienced nurse and senior leader looking to step into a definitive management role? Milsom House Nursing Home has a unique opportunity for a Trainee Clinical Manager. Working closely alongside our current Clinical Manager, you will embark on a comprehensive six\-month transition plan, fully preparing you to step into the role upon her retirement.
This is a chance to secure a clear career path within a supportive, high\-quality care environment, while working together with our General Home Manager to shape the future of our clinical team.
Organisational Relationship
The post holder is accountable to and reports to the General Home Manager.
Core Functions
Key responsibilities include:
- Clinical Excellence: Overseeing clinical governance through regular auditing and proactively directing the care team to maintain consistently high\-quality outcomes.
- Leadership \& Collaboration: Supporting the General Home Manager in daily operations and inspiring a diverse team to thrive.
- Regulatory Compliance: Communicating confidently and effectively with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), Social Services, Local Health Board and Safeguarding Teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Designing and implementing robust action plans when required, ensuring we continually strengthen our reputation for top\-tier care delivery within the sector.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Registered General Nurse (RGN) with an active, unrestricted NMC PIN and sharp, up\-to\-date clinical skills.
- Experience: Proven post\-qualification experience in a health and social care setting, specifically working with older people.
- Leadership History: A minimum of 2 years senior management experience within a care environment.
- Communication Skills: Be approachable to a diverse group of people with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful, trusted relationships with residents, families, staff, and external authorities.
- Tech Savvy: Strong IT literacy and confidence working with computer systems and documentation.
The post holder will be subject to appraisal.
Intrinsic Skills Required
Employee must be able to:\-
- Pull, push, lift or lower any load that has been risk assessed, intermittently during any given shift.
- Walk, stand, sit, squat and climb stairs intermittently during any given shift
- Kneel on floor on either knee and stand up again intermittently during any given shift
- Adapt a shoulder width stance and lunge to left side and right side intermittently during any given shift
- Grip and hold any object
- Adopt a static posture
- Job subject to post appointment health questionnaire
