The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for itsBusiness Planning Unit *of the* Resource Planning Division in the Central Front Office Services Department,at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Trainee – Business Planning.
Duration: 5 months \& Starting date: September 2026
*Specific Post Environment:*
The Resource Planning/Business Planning Unit is part of EIF’s Investment Office and it is central to the EIF's strategic and operational framework. Some of the core responsibilities include:
- Developing and steering the three\-year EIF Corporate Operational Plan (COP) including capital and KPI planning, a key strategic process aligned with the EIB Group.
- Managing the Deal Allocation Committee (DAC) process to ensure integrity and optimal resource allocation for equity transactions.
- Monitoring advancement of the deployment and fundraising COP and associated corporate KPIs. Steering operational delivery with investment and fundraising teams where needed in view of internal targets.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for critical data analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
Your overall objective will be to contribute to:
- The automation and refinement of internal processes and data visualisations aiming at the operational efficiencies.
- Developing and maintaining tools, workflows, and reporting mechanisms that enhance transparency, accuracy, and timeliness of information for investment, fundraising, and governance stakeholders.
Under the guidance of the senior of the team, you shall:
- Support COP and DAC processes through tool and dashboard development
- Improve data visualisation and reporting for internal stakeholders
- Contribute to management presentations and analytical deliverables
*Expected outcome**:*
- Comprehensive understanding of EIF’s operational model and asset classes. The intern will acquire a solid understanding of EIF’s operations, governance framework, and the complexity of its activities across all asset classes in which EIF operates (intermediated equity, guarantees, and securitisations).
- Measurable efficiency gains through digitalisation and process automation: The intern will contribute to extracting operational efficiencies by supporting further digitalisation and automation of processes within the Resource Planning/Business Planning Unit, thereby improving scalability, consistency, and sustainability of internal workflows.
- University degree (or on\-going studies) in Business Administration, Finance, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar discipline. Candidate may be enrolled in the final year of a master’s degree.
- Any experience in data analysis, banking/finance, consulting or in institutions similar to EIF would be considered an asset.
- Sufficient knowledge and understanding of EIF mission, activities and market in which EIF operates (with a focus on EIF’s equity business line)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good command of another EU language would be an advantage.
- Proficiency with advanced Excel functionalities expected.
- At least familiarity with other data analysis tools (notably SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar) will be a strong asset.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills – both written and oral.
- Quality focus and high level of accuracy in data analysis.
- Strong sense of ethics with the ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Strong ability to organize and follow up on tasks with colleagues across the institution.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts, tools, and methodologies.
- Excellent team\-working abilities.
