Job Description As a Traffic Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering traffic and highway improvement schemes that support safer journeys, sustainable travel and thriving communities.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers on a diverse portfolio of projects, helping to shape the future of the local highway network while developing your own professional skills and experience.

Job Description

The Traffic Engineer will:

  • Develop and deliver traffic engineering and highway improvement schemes.

  • Produce and review traffic engineering designs.

  • Manage project programmes, budgets and risk registers.

  • Secure and deliver Traffic Regulation Orders and related schemes.

  • Liaise with elected members, residents, developers and key stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with utility companies, emergency services and contractors.

  • Monitor project performance and expenditure.

  • Support the delivery of regional transport strategies and council priorities.

  • Mentor junior colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The Successful Applicant A successful Traffic Engineer should have:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience designing traffic engineering projects in accordance with TSRGD.

  • Experience delivering Traffic Regulation Orders, Speed Limit Orders or Parking Places Orders.

  • Experience of highway design and knowledge of DMRB.

  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of highway legislation, CDM Regulations and health & safety requirements.

  • Experience using AutoCAD and other engineering software packages.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.

  • Must have a UK Driving License
