Public Space Protection Enforcement Officer

• Hourly Rate: £16.43 via PAYE

• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (initial 6 months with potential extension)

Join our dedicated team in Bolton as a Public Space Protection Enforcement Officer, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining community standards and safety. This position focuses on reducing anti-social behaviour and improving the environment by enforcing Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and other regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Detect, deter, and act on anti-social behaviour within the town centre and other designated areas.


• Undertake enforcement activities, including issuing fixed penalty notices, preparing and serving notices, and collating evidence for legal actions.


• Investigate issues thoroughly to establish facts, supporting enforcement actions and prosecution cases.


• Engage with individuals and communities to promote responsibility and environmental improvement.


• Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and follow-up actions in compliance with procedures.


• Attend court as a witness when required and participate in meetings to support promotional campaigns.


• Liaise with other services, agencies, and stakeholders, sharing information and supporting team members, especially those less experienced.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Understanding of anti-social behaviour legislation and its application.


• Knowledge of issues affecting local communities and the importance of multi-agency partnerships.


• Experience in public engagement and effective communication of service matters.


• Ability to handle conflict situations with authority and appropriateness.


• Full, clean driving license is essential.


• Flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and availability for early evenings and occasional weekends.
