World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Test Design Support Engineer subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract. This role would suit a candidate who comes from an Electronics Design Engineer, Electronics Engineer, Production Support Engineer or Test Systems Designer background.

Rate: £65.00 per hour
Location: Bolton
Hybrid / Remote working: 4-5 days a week onsite (possible for remote work occasionally).
Compressed week of working Monday to Thursday is available.
Contract: 37 Hours per week
Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’
Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)
Interview Process: One stage onsite Interview

Test Design Support Engineer Job Description:

The department have an excellent opportunity for experienced Electronic Design Engineers to play a leading role in the support of production activities at their state of the art manufacturing facilities.

Working within Production Design Support (PDS) is a highly rewarding role as you not only see designs coming to life in the manufacturing environment but you can help to shape the design of the products and test equipment, delivering support to our customers.

You will act as the interface between our design teams and our manufacturing teams while working alongside other support engineers to provide knowledge and support.

Whilst the primary aim is focused on highly advanced module missile programmes and subsystems, there is also scope to work on other unique opportunities including support to launcher assemblies.

The role offers the candidate a true engineering challenge in their core discipline(s), whilst providing scope for personal growth and development in other areas of electronics.

Skillset/experience required:

To be suitable for this role, Individuals will be able to demonstrate a number of the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent industry experience) with experience of designing product/systems and/or providing support to designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle.

  • Proven experience in the design of one or more of the following disciplines:-

  • Digital and Analogue electronics

  • Power Electronics

  • RF & Antenna

  • Interconnects

  • Safety Electronics

  • Test Systems

  • Schematic design

  • PCB Design

  • Adherence to BS EN Standards

  • Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the capability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with an awareness of the challenges and opportunities that this may bring and a passion for innovation and collaboration.

  • You’ll be prepared to work autonomously if needed, lead the delivery of your work assignments, and actively engage with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of your outputs.

  • Manage discreet work packages preparing bids, controlling costs and delivering solutions. • Experience in supporting manufacturing and resolving manufacturing issues is an advantage, but not essential.

  • Investigative skills to be able to find Root Causes of design related issues and propose robust Corrective Actions.
