Test Automation Engineer (VoIP) Contract - Paying up to £367 Per Day, Inside IR35, Based in Ipswich, Hybrid Working (50% on site), Contract until March 2027, To Start ASAP

Your new role

We're seeking an experienced VoIP Test Automation Engineer to join a team delivering critical voice and communications platforms. You'll be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of VoIP services through automated testing, protocol validation and network analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain automated test frameworks for VoIP, signalling and media services

  • Develop scripts to simulate call loads, stress conditions and network degradation

  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines

  • Create detailed functional, performance, security and regression test cases

  • Analyse SIP and RTP traffic using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump

  • Monitor voice quality metrics including latency, jitter, packet loss and MOS scores

  • Produce comprehensive test reports and manage defects through Jira

  • Work closely with Development, DevOps and Network Engineering teams to resolve issues

What you'll need to succeed
  • VoIP testing experience using SIPp, Spectra, WinSIP or StarTrinity

  • Test automation with Python and Robot Framework

  • API and performance testing using JMeter, k6, Locust, Taurus/BlazeMeter or Newman

  • GUI automation experience with TestCafe

  • CI/CD testing integration experience

  • Knowledge of SIP, RTP and telecoms environments

  • Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS/OEL) and Windows administration

  • Exposure to telecoms platforms such as Metaswitch Rhino, Dialogic Media Server or Perimeta SBC

Desirable Skills:
  • SSCA SIP School certification

  • Knowledge of INAP, CAP and MAP protocols

  • Metaswitch Scenario Simulator experience

  • Telecoms security, system hardening and ITIL knowledge
