We are seeking a dedicated Tenancy Welfare Officer to deliver exceptional support services to vulnerable customers, helping them maintain successful tenancies and manage safety and risk. This role requires proactive intervention, multi-agency collaboration, and a strong focus on early intervention to support our community effectively.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Support and Sustain Tenancies: Assist vulnerable customers during onboarding and throughout their tenancy to prevent breakdowns. This includes conducting risk assessments and developing clear action plans.


• Risk Assessment and Management: Proactively identify early warning signs of potential issues that could impact tenancy sustainability. Conduct home visits and coordinate with various teams to ensure a holistic approach to tenant support.


• Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with external agencies such as local councils, mental health services, and police to ensure comprehensive support for tenants. Represent the organisation in multi-agency forums to advocate for tenant welfare.


• Direct Support for Complex Cases: Provide hands-on support for tenants facing complex challenges, including attending appointments and managing specific behavioural issues within safety limits.


• Monitoring and Reporting: Track the effectiveness of support plans and interventions, maintaining detailed records in housing management systems to inform future service adjustments and improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a housing environment with direct experience supporting vulnerable individuals. Experience in multi-agency working and handling cases involving domestic abuse, addiction, and mental health issues.


• Knowledge: Strong understanding of housing-related support, tenancy sustainment, and safeguarding principles. Familiarity with relevant legislation such as the Care Act 2014 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.


• Skills: Excellent risk assessment capabilities, ability to develop and implement effective action plans, and strong report writing skills. Proficiency in housing or case management systems is essential.


• Personal Qualities: High empathy, ability to build trust with challenging demographics, and strong advocacy skills to represent tenants' needs effectively.
