Technical Surveyor / Key Account Manager (Engineering Progression Opportunity)

Location: Runcorn, Cheshire
Job Type: Full\-Time, Permanent
Salary: £ Negotiable depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm)

About Us

Cheshire Industrial Doors is a leading provider of industrial and commercial access solutions across the UK. We specialise in the supply, installation, maintenance and repair of industrial doors, loading bay equipment, automatic entrance doors and security gate systems.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Technical Surveyor / Key Account Manager to join our team based in Runcorn.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position combining technical site surveying, customer relationship management and project coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing key customer accounts, carrying out site surveys, preparing quotations and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently from enquiry through to completion.

This role would be particularly suitable for an experienced installation, service or maintenance engineer looking to take the next step in their career and move into a technical surveying and account management position. Full support and training will be provided to help the successful candidate develop the commercial and project management aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out technical site surveys for industrial and commercial access solutions

  • Prepare and manage quotations for new installations and upgrade projects

  • Manage and develop relationships with key customer accounts

  • Conduct customer site visits and provide technical advice

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery

  • Process job entries and maintain accurate records within company systems

  • Identify opportunities for additional products and services

  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales and project lifecycle
Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a Technical Surveyor, Key Account Manager or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of industrial and commercial access solutions, including:

  • Industrial doors

  • Loading bay systems

  • Automatic entrance doors

  • Security gates and barriers

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to read technical specifications and conduct accurate site surveys

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills

  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
  • Experience within the industrial door, loading bay or entrance systems industry

  • Knowledge of Sage and Motivity software (Knowledge of Sage and Motivity would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided for the successful applicant.)

  • Understanding of health and safety requirements relating to access systems
