Technical Service & Training Manager

Please note that this role requires extensive travel across the UK, occasional travel to Ireland and some European travel, primarily to Sweden, particularly in connection with new product training.

What you would do as our Technical Service \& Training Manager
Working closely with our Service and Operations teams, you will act as a technical expert for complex field issues while supporting the ongoing development and performance of engineers and subcontractors. This is a hands\-on, field\-based role combining complex technical troubleshooting with engineer coaching, training and capability development. You’ll work closely with engineers, subcontractors and operational teams, personally diagnosing and resolving challenging technical issues while helping to improve technical knowledge and standardise best practices across the business.

You would also be respinsible for:

• Providing hands\-on technical support to engineers, managers and subcontractors, personally diagnosing and resolving complex faults, repairs and product\-related issues both on\-site and remotely.


• Acting as a point of technical expertise in the field, identifying recurring issues, supporting improvements to first\-time fix performance and working with engineering and product teams to improve product and service performance.


• Delivering structured technical training, hands\-on demonstrations, refresher sessions and targeted coaching across our product range and relevant competitor equipment, while supporting new product launches and technical readiness.


• Working alongside Service Operations Managers and Installation Project Managers to support engineer and subcontractor onboarding, identify technical skill gaps and develop appropriate coaching and training interventions.


• Conducting on\-site competency assessments, technical evaluations and audits, while working with operational leaders, HR and QHSE to support consistent technical, safety and quality standards across the business.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong hands\-on technical experience within the doors industry, ideally including entrance systems products, with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical faults in the field.


• Has a background in field service, engineering or a similar technical environment, with excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem\-solving capabilities.


• Has experience sharing technical knowledge with others through coaching, training or hands\-on support and is comfortable helping engineers develop their capabilities and improve performance.


• Has a solid understanding of relevant health and safety requirements, technical standards and compliance within a field engineering environment.


• Is open, engaging and confident, with strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships while also being comfortable challenging others, making decisions and maintaining technical standards when required.

• Experience with ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems products or similar competitor equipment.


• Experience conducting technical competency assessments or field audits.


• Training or instructional qualifications, such as Train the Trainer or PTLLS.


• Experience supporting new product introductions and delivering associated technical training.
