SGD Group is a leading provider of Fire \& Life Safety solutions, delivering high\-quality systems and services to commercial and industrial clients across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Estimator to join our team.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in Fire \& Life Safety systems who is looking to move into a more commercially focused role. It may particularly suit an experienced engineer or supervisor wishing to step away from the tools while continuing to utilise their valuable industry knowledge.
The Role
Working closely with clients, suppliers and the wider operations team, you will be responsible for preparing quotations and estimates for Fire \& Life Safety projects, ensuring solutions are technically compliant and commercially competitive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed quotations and cost estimates for Fire \& Life Safety installations and upgrades.
- Reviewing specifications, drawings and customer requirements.
- Providing technical advice and support to customers and internal teams.
- Ensuring proposals comply with relevant British Standards and UK Fire \& Life Safety regulations.
- Liaising with manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical information.
- Supporting business development activities and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Assisting with project handovers to operational teams.
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience within the UK Fire \& Life Safety industry.
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including:
- BS 5839 Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.
- BS 5266 Emergency Lighting.
- Fire Safety Order and associated legislation.
- Knowledge of suppression, access control and other life safety systems would be advantageous.
- Previous experience as a Fire \& Security Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, Supervisor or similar role.
- The ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and customer\-facing skills.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
