Job Title: Technical Product Lead

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: WBC

Salary: £55\-60,000 \+ Bonus and Benefits

Are you passionate about using data to drive business performance and operational excellence?

Working closely with Technical Product Managers and stakeholders across multiple functions, you'll help develop, enhance and optimise data products that provide meaningful insights and support strategic decision\-making. You'll play a key role in ensuring our data capabilities remain relevant, scalable and aligned with the evolving needs of the business.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the development of data product strategies that deliver measurable business improvements and support Whitbread's wider business objectives.

  • Partner with functional Heads of Department and senior stakeholders to identify opportunities where data can improve efficiency, compliance and performance.

  • Support the development and prioritisation of data product backlogs, balancing business value, feasibility and strategic alignment.

  • Drive adoption and effectiveness of data products across the business by working closely with key stakeholders to understand evolving requirements.

  • Challenge and improve existing KPIs, reporting outputs and data product functionality to maximise business value.

  • Define requirements for improving data quality, accuracy and reliability across reporting and decision\-support tools.

  • Work with Data Science teams where predictive models and advanced analytics form part of a data product.

  • Support the continuous improvement of business intelligence and data product capabilities through innovation and best practice.

  • Collaborate with teams across Data \& Analytics to maximise the value of shared tools and platforms, including Power BI and Databricks.

  • Lead engineers and developers on project\-based initiatives, providing technical guidance and support where required.

  • Support the development of technical skills and capabilities across the wider team through coaching and knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure data products remain effective, cost\-efficient and aligned with business priorities.

What you'll need:
  • Strong understanding of business intelligence, data products and cloud\-based data platforms.

  • Knowledge of data structures, operational processes and reporting solutions.

  • Good understanding of business strategy and how data supports organisational objectives.

  • Awareness of systems architecture and core business systems.

  • Understanding of data science principles and how predictive analytics can enhance business decision\-making.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.

  • Strong analytical, modelling and data visualisation skills using tools such as Excel, SQL and Power BI.

  • Experience designing and developing BI solutions and data products.

  • Strong backlog management and prioritisation skills.

  • Project management capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights and recommendations.

  • Experience working in agile delivery environments and sprint\-based development models.
It would be great if you also have:
  • Experience designing and operating high\-impact data products that support business decision\-making across multiple organisational levels.

  • Experience working within a large, complex or matrix organisation.

  • Experience leading, coaching or mentoring analysts, developers or product teams.

  • Experience within a hospitality, hotel or restaurant environment.

  • Experience developing new data management processes and governance approaches.

  • Experience creating communications, training materials and adoption programmes that support effective use of data products.

  • Knowledge of platforms such as Databricks and broader modern analytics technologies.
