Scotland's Railway is part of this large family, and it covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. We provide rapid access along busy commuter routes to our seven cities, servicing the varied needs of our business and leisure commuter services, including cross border services and rural services. We have up to 50 freight services operating every day and we are steadily building capacity for this to grow. About the role
------------------
This is a Full\-Time 12\-month Fixed Term position.
The role supports the safe and effective delivery of technical work by operating in line with approved safe systems of work, method statements, plans and company procedures. You will assist with the provision of technical support, helping to carry out inspections, tests and investigations, and contributing to the analysis of technical data to support informed decision¿making and high¿quality outcomes.
You will be responsible for accurately recording information and maintaining systems, databases and technical records, as well as supporting the preparation of method statements and work or design plans where required. The role also encourages continuous improvement, with a focus on developing your own skills and knowledge while positively contributing to the development and effectiveness of the wider team.
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Assist in the provision of technical support
- Assist in undertaking technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data.
- Assist with the preparation of method statements and/or plans for design or work activities where required.
- Provide information and accurately update systems, databases and records.
- Contribute to your own development and that of others.
Please be aware that this role will involve working unsociable hours including weekends, nights and bank holidays. You may also be required to work on\-call.

Grade: Maintenance Grade Terms and Conditions (IMC33C)
Salary : £25,490 (Entry Step salary) rising with training up to a maximum of £35,808 (Step 10 salary) \+ a Professional Managerial Allowance.

Your experience and skills

Essential criteria
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
- Ideally hold or be working towards and NVQ level 1 or 2 (or equivalent) in an engineering/leadership subject.
- Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
