Technical Manager
Job Overview
This is predominantly an office\-based role but will require regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK to provide technical support, attend meetings, undertake surveys, assist with project delivery and represent Heightsafe Systems Ltd during technical discussions.
The Technical Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership across the business, acting as the primary point of contact for technical matters relating to our work at height and fall protection systems.
The role works closely with the Installation, Compliance, Design and Sales departments, ensuring projects are designed, specified, installed and inspected in accordance with current legislation, British Standards and company procedures.
The Technical Manager will play a key role in maintaining technical excellence throughout the business by supporting colleagues, clients and external stakeholders with technical advice, engineering solutions and product application guidance.
We expect you to become a key technical leader within Heightsafe Systems Ltd, working closely with the senior management team and making a direct contribution to the continued growth, compliance and reputation of the business.
Responsibilities
- Act as the company's lead technical authority for fall protection, façade access and safe access systems.
- Provide technical advice and support to Installation, Compliance, Design and Sales departments.
- Interpret current legislation, British Standards and industry guidance, ensuring company procedures remain compliant.
- Monitor changes to standards and legislation and communicate updates across the business.
- Review and approve technical methodologies, technical designs and engineering proposals.
- Assist the Design Department in developing compliant technical solutions.
- Provide engineering guidance for bespoke and complex projects.
- Liaise with structural engineers, architects, contractors and consultants.
- Provide technical support to Project Managers and Installation Teams.
- Attend site to resolve technical issues during installation.
- Provide technical guidance to the Compliance Department on inspections, testing and certification.
- Review non\-compliant systems and produce technically suitable remediation proposals.
- Assist with the production and review of System Technical Files and Examination Schemes.
- Attend client meetings alongside the Sales Team to provide technical expertise.
- Review specifications, tender documentation and employer's requirements.
- Carry out technical site surveys, design meetings, progress meetings and site walks.
- Support product development, testing and technical documentation.
- Deliver internal technical training and mentor staff.
- Support ISO audits, NCR investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Full UK Driving Licence with willingness to travel nationally.
- Minimum GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Eligibility to work within the UK.
- Minimum five years' experience within the work at height, fall protection or façade access industry.
- Excellent understanding of design principles relating to fall protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of relevant British Standards and legislation. \[including 7883:2019 / 8610:2017 / EN795:2012]

Pay: £60,000\.00\-£70,000\.00 per year
