Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for two experienced Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEND school in Sheffield, providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils from Year 3 through to Year 11.

These are permanent opportunities within a specialist setting, offering the chance to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with complex additional needs.

The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils, helping them to access their education, manage their individual needs and develop their confidence and independence.

The pupils you will be supporting have a range of complex needs, which may include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • ADHD

  • Social, emotional and mental health needs

  • Behavioural difficulties

  • Communication and interaction needs

  • Complex learning needs

You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide consistent, individualised support both in the classroom and across the wider school environment.

The role will involve supporting pupils with their learning, behaviour, emotional well being and social development, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will have: • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role.

  • Strong experience supporting children or young people with SEND.

  • Experience supporting pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs.

  • Experience working with pupils with ASD and/or ADHD.

  • A calm, patient and consistent approach.

  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Confidence supporting challenging behaviour and maintaining clear boundaries.

  • The resilience and understanding required to work within a complex SEND environment.

  • The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other professionals.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.

  • Team Teach training would be beneficial but is not essential.

Permanent Positions There are two permanent positions available at the school.

Successful candidates will initially be employed and paid through Tradewind Recruitment, with the opportunity to transfer onto a direct permanent contract with the school following the initial period.
