About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our busy and nurturing primary school, working as part of our established team.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled practitioner with a genuine passion for supporting children aged 4-11 with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), communication and interaction, and cognition and learning needs.
You will play a key role in supporting pupils , helping to remove barriers to learning and enabling every child to feel included, safe and ready to succeed.
Key Responsibilities You will:
- Provide responsive, child-centred support for pupils with a range of additional needs
- Support children during moments of emotional dysregulation in a calm and consistent manner
- Use co-regulation strategies to help pupils return to a state where they are ready to learn
- Work with teachers to adapt activities and scaffold learning to meet individual needs
- Deliver targeted interventions to support communication, emotional literacy and learning skills
- Support pupils to develop independence, resilience and positive relationships
- Work restoratively with pupils following incidents, supporting reflection and re-engagement
- Contribute to creating a positive classroom environment where all pupils feel ready, respectful and safe
- Has experience (or a strong interest) in supporting children with SEND across a range of needs
- Understands that behaviour is a form of communication and adopts a relational, inclusive approach
- Can build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries
- Is calm, reflective and adaptable in response to different situations
- Is committed to inclusive practice and ensuring all children thrive
- Works effectively as part of a team and communicates well with staff, pupils and families

This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
