Overview
We are currently recruiting for teachers in both Gloucester (Brockworth) and Bristol (Various sites\-Yate) to work both 1:1 and in small groups within our unique alternative learning provision.
This role is for a qualified teacher who understands that not all young people are able to thrive in mainstream school settings and benefit from the small group nurturing approach that an alternative learning provision can provide.
We are a mentoring and learning service for young people and are seeking a teacher who can deliver English, Maths to a basic level (up to equivalent Grade 4 GCSE) and PSHE for our secondary and post 16 learners up to Functional Skillls L2\. The successful candidate will work 9am\-3pm, Monday to Friday with no expectation to work from home or complete the additional administration expected in schools. You will have free time in the day for development assessment \- you will have a work\-life balance again!
The successful candidate will be teaching 1:1 or small groups of students up to 4 sessions per day working towards Functional Skills Maths and English and NOCN unit accreditations in PSHE. PSHE topics are taught in line with the PSHE Association guidance and statutory requirements for school with a specific focus on the needs of our students.
This role is for a September 2026 start ideally however we will wait for the right person.
Duties
- Delivering and developing SW ALP curriculum.
- Achieving qualification outcomes for learners ranging from NOCN units to Functional Skills L2 English and maths.
- Delivering small group learning.
- Delivering 1:1 teaching.
- Completing reports on all pupils termly.
- Maintaining education records.
- Managing pupil behaviour.
- Liaising with schools, parents/carers, external teachers, social workers and educational psychologists where appropriate.
- Organising and running sessions to supplement the curriculum.
- helping pupils to increase their confidence and self\-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies.
- Adapting teaching and learning to meet individual SEND.
- Complete daily logs on the learner’s achievement and learning, attitudes and behaviours, and report safeguarding concerns.
- Build positive relationships with staff and primarily the young people.
- Promote a culture of positive relationships and learning outcomes.
- Desirable A PGCE qualified teacher.
- Minimum A passion for influencing positive change in young people enabling them to achieve their ambitions and aspirations. GCSEs A\-C grades in Maths and English; Experience working with young people in youth work or education; A L3 formal teaching qualification .
- Have experience in dealing with difficult young people.
- Have a passion to learn and develop themselves.
- Be able to evidence experience from disciplined background.
- Experience in working with young people in an education setting.
Pay: Up to £108\.00 per day
