Tax Manager – Trusts & Estates

Location: City of London or West End

Workplace: Hybrid

Salary: £67,000 – £72,000

A respected and expanding UK advisory and accountancy group is looking for an experienced Tax Manager (Trusts & Estates) to join its growing Private Client Tax team. This leadership role offers responsibility for a varied portfolio of trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals, together with oversight and development of junior team members in a supportive, collaborative environment.

You’ll lead high-quality trust and estate advisory work, build long-term client relationships, support Partners and Directors on complex matters, and help shape the future of the firm’s trusts and estates offering.

The role

You will manage a trusts and estates-focused portfolio while acting as a trusted adviser to trustees, executors, beneficiaries and professional intermediaries. The work blends advisory and compliance, with visibility across complex, high-value matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a varied portfolio of trusts, estates and HNWIs

  • Acting as main contact for trustees, executors, beneficiaries and advisers

  • Leading trust and estate advisory projects and producing clear written reports

  • Advising on CGT and IHT planning, including trusts and lifetime transfers

  • Overseeing trust accounts and trust/estate tax returns

  • Managing WIP, billing and delivery against deadlines

  • Supporting Partners with business development and client initiatives

  • Reviewing work and mentoring junior team members

  • Driving process improvements and operational efficiency

About you

You’re a technically strong private client specialist with deep trusts and estates experience, proven leadership capability and excellent client skills.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • CTA and/or STEP qualification (or equivalent experience)

  • A strong background in UK trusts and estates work

  • Broad private client tax knowledge, including anti-avoidance

  • Experience in trust and IHT compliance and reporting

  • Confidence managing HMRC enquiries and settlements

  • Excellent advisory and technical report-writing skills

  • Proven people management and coaching experience

  • Commercial awareness and a client-focused, solutions-led approach
