Tax Compliance Director (Certified Accountant)

We are looking for an experienced Tax Compliance Director, who is a Certified Accountant (Contabilista Certificado), to lead all tax activities, ensure compliance with Portuguese regulations while supporting strategic business decisions.

What will my functions be?

• Service \& Portfolio Management: Oversee tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities for a diverse portfolio of clients. Manage multiple tax compliance engagements, ensure timely delivery, high quality standards, and client satisfaction. Ensure the accurate preparation and submission of corporate tax obligations, including CIT (IRC), VAT (IVA), and other applicable tax and declarations.


• Leadership \& Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Tax team, fostering a high\-performance culture. Support talent development, succession planning, and performance management.


• Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient delivery of tax services, monitoring KPIs, workload planning, and overall service performance to maintain operational effectiveness and quality.


• Technical Oversight \& Compliance: Supervise tax compliance and reporting activities, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with Portuguese tax regulations. Support audits, inspections, and tax\-related projects.


• Client \& Stakeholder Management: Act as an experience advisor on tax matters. Manage relationships with tax authorities, and key stakeholders, ensuring strong collaboration and proactive communication.


• Continuous Improvement: Monitor legislative changes and drive proactive solutions, ensuring the Tax function remains compliant and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor in Accounting, Management or Law


• Certified Accountant in Portugal (mandatory)


• 15\+ years of experience in Tax, including leadership roles


• Strong expertise in the Portuguese tax framework


• Experience in similar senior roles


• Experience in a multinational environment in professional services firms


• Fluent English and strong stakeholder management skills
