Support Worker

I am 14\-year\-old with autism and I’m looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to access social and community activities and promote my independence.

I am sociable, enjoy being outdoors, visiting the park, and going to the shops. I would like to expand my activities to include attending the gym and participating in a variety of activities within the community. A Personal Assistant is required who is patient, reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changes in routine or planned activities.

Main Duties:

• Providing support after school during the week and during weekends/school holidays as required


• Supporting access to social, leisure, and community activities


• Accompanying the young person to activities such as the gym and park


• Encouraging independence and confidence both within the home and in the community


• Supporting with showering routines to develop independence with personal care


• Supporting with food preparation to develop confidence and independence in the kitchen


• Supporting with routines, communication, and engagement in activities as appropriate


• Ensuring the young person’s safety and wellbeing at all times

• Caring, supportive, and understanding nature


• Flexible and reliable


• Ability to build a positive working relationship


• Experience or understanding of autism is desirable

It would be advantageous for the Personal Assistant to hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle with appropriate insurance.

Hours:

Hourly rate: £13\.45

Initially 10 hours per week.

Additional hours may be available during weekends and school holidays.

Days and times to be arranged flexibly.

An enhanced DBS check may be required.
