Autism \& Learning Disabilities Support \| Community Support Worker

About the Role

As a Support Worker at Brandon Trust, you’ll play a vital role supporting autistic people and people with learning disabilities to live independently, safely, and confidently in their communities.

This is a rewarding, person\-centred role where no two days are the same. You’ll provide practical and emotional support both in people’s own homes and out in the community, helping individuals live the life they choose.

We are currently recruiting Support Workers in Worle and Nailsea to support people through:

  • Community access and social activities

  • Life skills development

  • Gardening, pottery, and creative activities

  • Shopping trips and meal preparation

  • Attending appointments and healthcare visits

  • Travel training and building independence

  • Supporting people to attend work, education, or volunteering

  • Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment

  • Emotional support and companionship

  • Personal care and daily living support
Driving is a key part of this role. You will support people to access the community, attend activities, appointments, day services, and enjoy meaningful experiences. A full UK driving licence is essential.

This role includes 1\-to\-1 support, community support, supported living, and personal care responsibilities. You’ll work closely with individuals to promote independence, dignity, wellbeing, inclusion, and choice.

Key Responsibilities

As a Support Worker / Care Assistant, you will:

  • Provide high\-quality person\-centred care and support

  • Support adults with autism and learning disabilities

  • Assist with personal care including washing, dressing, and hygiene support

  • Help with medication support and health\-related appointments

  • Support independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and shopping

  • Encourage social inclusion, confidence, and community participation

  • Drive service users safely to activities, appointments, and outings

  • Build positive relationships with individuals, families, and colleagues

  • Follow care plans, safeguarding procedures, and health \& safety guidance

  • Promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes

What We’re Looking For

Essential


  • Full UK driving licence

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Compassionate, caring, and respectful approach

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable (but not essential)


  • Experience as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Carer, Community Support Worker, or Mental Health Support Worker

  • Experience supporting people with autism, learning disabilities, or complex needs

  • Experience in social care, supported living, domiciliary care, residential care, or community care
No previous experience is required — full training is provided.
