About Nevaeh Homes:

Nevaeh Homes provides supported accommodation and support to young people aged 16\-18 years old in Nottingham.

Our homes are staffed 22/7 so this role will be on a shift pattern and would require all staff to work evenings, weekends and do sleep ins

This position involves delivering support to Young People aged 16 – 18\+ living within supported accommodation placements. The support will be based around a living package of structured key work sessions to vulnerable young people.

Young people may have a history of trauma and as a result and may struggle with regulating their emotions therefore may display challenging behaviour (including physical)

Nevaeh is specialised in working with vulnerable young people at risk of sexual and criminal exploitation and young mothers. Our aim at Nevaeh Homes is to provide a homely environment to young people with intensive one: one support, raise awareness of exploitation, grooming, how to keep safe, develop independent living skills, provide advocacy, advice, and guidance

The young people we support are placed in semi\-independent group homes and self\-contained accommodations within the Nottingham area.

Minimum Age:

Due to the nature of the job and statutory regulations we are unable to take on staff members whose age is too close to our client groups.

We will not consider any candidates who are under the age of 21\.

Expectations:

· Build and develop relationships with the young people we support and encourage them to participate fully in the opportunities offered within the homes and out in the community

· Working in accordance with policies and procedures in order to safeguard young people

· Conducting safe and well checks throughout the day

· Be responsible for the effective safeguarding of the young people within your care and understand how to raise concerns.

· Participating in a wide range of innovative activities and events held within the home and wider community

· Assisting young people to further develop their independent life skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and budgeting

· Creating positive relationships with the young people and offering nurture and respect

· Meeting the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and safety needs of the young people

· Delivering key work sessions

· Continually maintaining accurate and clear record keeping

· Ensuring that the needs of the young person are being met

· Reviewing and recording changes to those needs using support planning and risk assessing

· Actively contributing to the development of the team

Qualifications:

Candidates are to have or be willing to work towards completing QCF /NVQ Level 3 award in Health \& Social Care (Children) within the set time frame.

This is a statutory requirement for all employees wishing to work in childcare.

What is required:

  • Previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour is essential

  • Previous experience of working with young people of exploitation is desirable

  • Previous experience of working with young parents is desirable

  • All staff would be expected to complete relevant training such as safeguarding, Child Sexual and Criminal Exploitation, Professional Boundaries and Restraint Training

  • IT Skills would be desirable as the role involves using computer systems, email, and Microsoft software
Work Conditions:
  • Weekend work is required

  • Sleeping in duties may be required for a minimum of two nights per week

  • Willing to work Bank Holidays and over the Christmas period when required

  • Willing to work additional hours to cover sickness and holidays and to work at other homes in the business

  • Ability to lone work or as part of a team

  • A Full enhanced DBS check will be conducted before working with our young people.
