Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist young offenders in their personal development and rehabilitation. This role involves working closely with young people, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to help them integrate positively into society. The successful candidate will play a vital part in fostering a safe, supportive environment that encourages growth and learning. Responsibilities
- Provide personalised support and mentoring to young offenders, encouraging positive behaviour and decision\-making.
- Assist with educational activities, including tutoring and facilitating special education programmes where necessary.
- Support young people in developing life skills, such as communication, organisation, and problem\-solving.
- Foster a safe environment by monitoring behaviour and intervening when necessary to de\-escalate conflicts.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and educators, to develop tailored support plans.
- Organise engaging activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and incidents in accordance with organisational policies.
- Promote respect, dignity, and inclusivity within the programme at all times.
- Experience or background in teaching, youth work, or working with children is highly desirable.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young people.
- Knowledge of special education needs (SEN) and experience supporting individuals with additional learning requirements is advantageous.
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills and patience.
- Ability to work flexibly, including during evenings or weekends if required.
- Relevant qualifications or training in youth work or social care are preferred but not essential.
