ABOUT SACHET FACTORY LIMITED

Sachet Factory Limited is a UK contract packer specialising in sachet filling and packing. In two years we have grown from a standing start to more than 100 customers, in a very popular and fast growing space.

The business is growing rapidly, and the operations function needs to grow with it. Volumes, customer numbers and production complexity have all increased, and the processes that carried us to this point now need to be rebuilt properly for the next stage of investment and growth. This is a business where operational infrastructure needs to be solid \- ensuring cross\-functional departments are pulling together harmoniously.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role forms part of the newly created operations team at Sachet Factory Limited, reporting to the Operations Manager.

You will make sure everything production needs is ordered at the right time, chased through, and on site when the plan needs it. That means raising purchase orders for customer blends, printed laminate and consumables, getting confirmed delivery dates from suppliers, chasing until materials arrive, and arranging the logistics to get them here and on to the secondary packer.

It is detail\-driven, deadline\-driven work. A wrong artwork version, a missed lead time or an unconfirmed delivery can stop a production run, so accuracy and persistence matter. You will be trusted to deal directly with suppliers, hauliers and colleagues across the business, and to raise your hand early when something is at risk.

This is a strong opportunity for someone early in their procurement or supply chain career, with real scope to grow as the business and the operations team develop.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1\. Purchase orders

  • Raise purchase orders in Unleashed for blends, laminate and consumables from confirmed customer orders and the production plan, placed early enough to meet supplier lead times.

  • Make sure every purchase order carries the correct specification, quantity, price, delivery date and delivery address, including blend codes and laminate artwork versions.

  • Check that customer approvals are in place before ordering on their behalf, including signed\-off artwork proofs, blend specifications and agreed costs.

  • Keep supplier and product data accurate in Unleashed, including lead times, minimum order quantities and pricing.
2\. Chasing and supplier liaison
  • Obtain an order acknowledgement and confirmed delivery date for every purchase order, and keep a clear record of every open order and its status.

  • Chase suppliers ahead of due dates, not after them, so that problems surface while there is still time to act.

  • Flag any risk to the production plan immediately to the Operations Manager and Production Manager, with options where possible.

  • Resolve short deliveries, damaged goods, incorrect materials and quality rejections with suppliers, including returns and credits.

  • Keep the account management team up to date on material status for their customers' orders, so they do not need to chase suppliers themselves.

  • Track supplier delivery performance and report it to the Operations Manager.
3\. Logistics
  • Book and coordinate inbound deliveries, including IBCs from blend manufacturers and laminate reels from printers, managing delivery slots and available storage space.

  • Arrange transport of bulk sachets to the secondary packer with the correct documentation.

  • Work with the goods\-in team to make sure deliveries are checked against the purchase order, booked into Unleashed with batch and lot numbers, and passed to Quality for release.

  • Manage the return of empty IBCs and the handling of surplus customer\-owned materials.

  • Monitor freight costs and look for better ways to move goods.
4\. Records and support
  • Work with the Bookkeeper to resolve price and quantity mismatches between purchase orders, goods receipts and supplier invoices.

  • Maintain orderly, complete purchasing records to support traceability and audits.

  • Support stock counts and help investigate material variances.

  • Help improve procurement templates, trackers and procedures as the operations team develops.
