Language in Action is looking for someone who thrives in two modes: leading a busy residential summer centre and building commercial relationships year\-round. If you're energised by the pace of summer operations and enjoy the relationship\-driven side of international student recruitment, this role was built for you.

During the summer, this role will operate as a residential Summer Centre Manager, leading the day\-to\-day delivery of a high\-quality student experience on campus. From September onwards, the role will transition into a Regional Sales Manager position, focusing on agent relationships, client development, student recruitment, and commercial growth across allocated markets.

About the role

This is a hybrid role combining operational leadership and commercial responsibility across two key phases of the year.

From spring through summer, you will support pre\-arrival operational planning and then move into residential centre\-based delivery during the summer peak, taking responsibility for the smooth, safe, and successful running of your assigned centre.

From September onwards, you will revert to a Regional Sales Manager role, helping to drive enrolments and business development through agent management, partnership growth, client support, and market strategy.

Outside of the summer operational period, the role is remote\-first, with occasional travel to the head office in London for team meetings and training, and regular travel for sales activity across allocated markets.

Key responsibilities – summer operations

  • Lead the day\-to\-day running of a residential summer centre, ensuring a safe, organised, student\-focused, and well\-managed environment.

  • Manage centre operations across arrivals, departures, accommodation, catering, activities, staffing, logistics, compliance, and welfare coordination.

  • Line manage and support seasonal centre staff, setting expectations, monitoring standards, and responding to operational issues quickly and calmly.

  • Carry out quality checks across accommodation, teaching, catering, activity, and communal areas to ensure service standards are maintained.

  • Act as the senior operational point of contact on site for students, group leaders, staff, venue partners, and head office colleagues.

  • Oversee incident management, safeguarding escalation, record keeping, and reporting in line with company procedures.

  • Work closely with academic, welfare, activity, and venue teams to ensure a joined\-up delivery model across the centre.

  • Support pre\-summer planning, staffing coordination, rooming, documentation, and centre preparation in the lead\-up to opening.
Key responsibilities – regional sales
  • Manage and grow relationships with education agents, partners, schools, and clients across an allocated region or portfolio.

  • Drive student recruitment and revenue growth through regular account management, proactive sales activity, and new business development.

  • Represent Language in Action at partner meetings, workshops, fairs, school visits, and other promotional events in the UK and overseas as required.

  • Monitor market activity, competitor trends, and conversion performance to help shape regional sales strategy.

  • Support quotation, proposal, follow\-up, and conversion activity in collaboration with internal teams.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline updates, and sales reporting, ensuring that all data is current and actionable.

  • Work collaboratively with admissions, operations, marketing, and finance teams to ensure excellent client communication and smooth delivery from sale to arrival.

  • Help develop repeat business, strengthen retention, and identify opportunities for year\-on\-year growth.
Person specification
  • Experience in one or both of the following areas: summer school / centre operations, and international education sales or account management.

  • Strong operational judgement and the ability to stay calm, organised, and solutions\-focused in a fast\-paced environment.

  • Confident people manager with experience leading teams, coordinating stakeholders, and maintaining standards.

  • Commercially aware, with the ability to build relationships, understand client needs, and support revenue growth.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, group leaders, agents, venue partners, and colleagues.

  • Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and confidence working across systems, reporting, and documentation.

  • Awareness of safeguarding, welfare, health and safety, and compliance responsibilities in a student\-facing environment.

  • Willingness and ability to work residentially during the summer operational period and travel for sales activity when required.
Ideal profile
  • At least 2 years' hands\-on experience in summer school operations, residential centre delivery, or a comparable student\-facing environment.

  • At least 2 years' experience in sales or account management, with a track record of managing agent or client relationships and contributing to revenue growth

  • A proactive and flexible professional who is equally comfortable solving live problems on campus and building long\-term business partnerships off\-season.
Contract and working pattern
  • This role is hybrid across the year and includes residential summer delivery.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly in the lead\-up to summer, be fully available during the summer programme period, and then transition into a regional sales role from September onwards.

  • Some evening, weekend, and travel commitments will be required depending on operational and commercial needs.
Why join us
  • This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely varied role combining centre leadership, student experience, and international business development.
