Role description:

Our paid Intern \& Placement programme is designed to give you a hands\-on insight into the work we do as a company and help to develop skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Supported by signposted training, the programme is based on Arcadis’ core values, giving you both technical training and support to help you develop both personally and professionally whilst with us. You will be exposed to real projects and clients and given a range of experiences to immerse yourself into over the course of your 10–12\-week internship or 12\-month placement.

Role accountabilities:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Intern Electrical Engineer to join our growing Electrical \& Instrumentation (E\&I) team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands\-on experience on innovative projects within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and industrial sectors while working alongside experienced engineers and project managers.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the design and delivery of complex engineering projects, gaining exposure to electrical power systems, instrumentation design, commissioning, and construction support activities. This internship will provide valuable insight into the role of an Electrical Engineer and help you develop both your technical and professional skills.

What You'll Do

As a Summer Intern Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Support the design of electrical power distribution systems and building services.

  • Assist in producing electrical drawings, schematics, and single\-line diagrams.

  • Contribute to electrical design calculations, including cable sizing, voltage drop, lighting studies, and load assessments.

  • Gain experience in short\-circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.

  • Support the development of utility service matrices and engineering databases.

  • Assist with preparing technical specifications, reports, and project documentation.

  • Take part in site surveys, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.

  • Work closely with process, mechanical, HVAC, architectural, construction, and validation teams.

  • Learn and apply industry standards, engineering principles, and best practices.

You will receive support and mentorship from experienced engineering professionals, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and gain valuable exposure to both office\-based and site\-based activities.   • Accepted Degrees: Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Qualifications \& Experience:
  • You will be working towards a degree in a relevant subject

  • You will demonstrate typical Arcadian skills including Resilience, Creativity, Analytical Thinking and being a Team Player

  • You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use your technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.

  • Willing to travel and stay away from home when required (where possible we embrace virtual working)
