Our client, one of the UK's leading loss adjusting organisations, is seeking a technically competent Civil or Structural Engineer to join their Subsidence team as a Surveyor/Engineer, reporting to the Head of Subsidence. This is a remote role, working across a varied caseload of subsidence and property-related claims and providing expert technical input to support liability and settlement decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys getting to the root of complex claims, producing clear, well-structured reports, and working closely with adjusters, clients and other technical specialists as part of a wider loss adjusting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle subsidence claims and provide technical support to Adjusters within your area of specialism

  • Investigate and manage claims, carrying out site visits and preparing case management plans

  • Prepare detailed reports covering policy analysis, liability, quantum and future actions

  • Instruct and control other technical specialists as required

  • Communicate regularly with all interested parties, including calculating and approving interim payments

  • Calculate and agree claim settlements, preparing specialist and final reports

  • Maintain accurate files and records, keeping up to date with relevant technical and legal developments

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, escalating any concerns appropriately

  • Recommend and review repair and mitigation solutions, including underpinning, drainage works and vegetation management

  • Provide expert technical input on causation, including support for litigation, complaints, recoveries or repudiation decisions

  • Support wider business transition projects as required

Requirements
  • Professionally qualified Civil or Structural Engineer, chartered or working towards chartership

  • Relevant technical experience in civil/structural engineering, claims investigation or a related environment

  • Strong technical and analytical capability with sound decision-making skills

  • Clear, confident communicator with a customer-focused, service-oriented approach

  • Well organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy, target-based workload

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team

  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK

  • ACII and/or ACILA qualifications advantageous
