Applications are invited from enthusiastic and experienced candidates, with first class verbal and written communication skills, wishing to join our vibrant and successful school. At Derby High, our Student Reception is the first point of contact for all Students and plays a crucial role in the smooth running of the school.
The role will involve providing a warm and welcoming reception to all pupils, Parents and Visitors both in person and over the telephone along with providing administration support to departments across the school. The role includes first aid and attending to the day to day medical needs of pupils (first aid training will be provided). A flexible attitude and the drive to make a difference is a must!
Applications are encouraged from candidates with strong communication and administrative skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience within a similar role is essential. This is a term time only role and consideration will be given to either one full time person (approx. hours 8am\-4pm, Monday to Friday).
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Reception
- Act as the first point of contact for students arriving at reception, responding to queries and concerns in a calm and supportive manner
- Manage student sign\-in and sign\-out procedures in line with school safeguarding policies
- Provide administrative support to the school, including data entry, filing, and record\-keeping
- Answer and direct telephone calls and messages appropriately
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times
- Support the wider administration team as required
- Collect pupils for meetings
- Maintaining first aid kits
- Ordering first aid supplies for all schools
- Inputting medical and wellbeing info on to ISams
- Obtaining parental consent for paracetamol/medication and refreshing annually
- Assist with booking coaches for school trips and sports fixtures
- Supporting vaccinations
- Maintain and regularly check defibs
- Assign lockers, Assist pupils with locker issues.
- Assist with Lunch duty
- Checking student medical items kept in school are in date and informing parents if due to expire
- Assist with School mobile phone bookings
- Franking outgoing mail.
- Verifier for Duke of Edinburgh Scheme
- Monitor electronic registration each morning and mark late arrivals
- Put messages in registers as required
- Assist with PM registers (when they haven’t been completed)
- Be a member of the first aid team and care for sick children until they are collected by a parent/guardian. Attend any first aid calls as necessary.
- Ensure sick children sign in and out of school in absence of Student reception
- Administer medicine and keep accurate records of date/time administered
- Liaise with staff over issues that may arise in the medical room
- Attend any first aid calls as necessary
- Attend any IPS alerts
