Position Summary:
About Parsons Paris: Parsons Paris, established in 1921 as the first American art and design school in Paris, is the European campus of Parsons School of Design in New York City. A part of The New School, it hosts an international community of about 300 students from over 50 nationalities, offering innovative bachelor's and master's degree programs in fashion, strategic design management, and art, media, and technology.
About API and Parsons Paris Partnership: API (Academic Programs International) has been providing student support services at Parsons Paris since 2013, working within the Office of Student Success to ensure students' professional and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities: Student Life Services:
- Facilitate the acclimation to life in Paris for a diverse group of students by offering student services (advice \& guidance) for non\-academic concerns
- Communicate via email, phone and other outlets and meet with students on a regular basis
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of semester on\-site orientation sessions
- Manage relationships with the housing partners (to include student dorms, host families, and apartments), and resolve any issues
- Plan and lead cultural activities and excursions designed to introduce and integrate students into Parisian life
- Oversee the lists of student contact details and execute emergency response and action plans as needed in collaboration with Parsons Paris
- Coordinate and manage all on\-site immigration status verification and visa registration (OFII) and renewal (Prefecture) as needed
- Plan and execute short\-term summer programs (including hiring and supervision of temporary staff)
- Supervise two Coordinators to assure the delivery of high\-quality student services during all open office hours
- Manage program budgets and account for all funds spent
- Act as the liaison between Parsons Paris and API Texas to ensure a successful operation that meets the needs of students, faculty, API and Parsons administrators.
- Provide student life services including advice and assistance on matters related to banking, transportation, health, safety \& student wellbeing, counseling \& mental health, cultural activities and excursions.
- Host French Health Insurance enrollment sessions and individual meetings with students concerning Ameli, respond to students related questions, follow up with students throughout the process.
- Manage a comprehensive list of students on an academic year basis, ensure data is regularly updated, manage various lists of task\-related information.
- Help students address issues related to their stay in France, support in need of communication in French, communicate via email, phone and other outlets, meet with students on a regular basis.
- Manage new student communications and participate in the annual Open House, Admitted
- Students Day, Mandatory Pre\-orientation New Student Zoom sessions, and managing the matrix to track communication with all new students.
- Support student safety, adhering to safety protocols in the case of individual or large\-scale emergencies, rotate emergency phone duties
- Assist in planning and conducting on\-site orientation sessions and collect new students’ immigration data.
- Assist with cultural activities and excursions designed to introduce and integrate students into the Parsons Paris community and French culture.
- Assist in the planning and execution of the Parsons Summer programs.
- Provide academic advising, maintain precise records of a students' academic progress and meet with students in years 2, 3 and 4 to provide feedback and guidance toward successful completion of the degree.
- Keep precise records of students' academic progress, coursework, and degree requirements.
- Study necessary paths to degree attainment/understand the program requirements.
- Schedule and conduct regular meetings with advisees to provide feedback, guidance, and support.
- Provide written documentation upon request.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, International Education, or a related field.
- Experience in student services, academic advising, or international education (preferably in France or with international students).
- Familiarity with French administrative processes, including health insurance (Ameli), visa procedures (OFII/Prefecture), and housing.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French (spoken and written).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and support diverse student backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage student records, administrative processes, and event coordination.
- Problem\-solving and crisis management abilities to handle student issues and emergency situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and student information systems.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and emergency phone duty.
