Structured Cabling Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a Structured Cabling Engineer responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of structured cabling systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and data centre environments. The role includes copper and fibre optic infrastructure, containment systems, wireless infrastructure, and supporting network equipment installations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and health \& safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Installation
· Install Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A and Cat8 copper cabling.
· Install cable containment.
· Install cabinets, racks and patch panels.
· Install Wireless Access Point (WAP) cabling.
· Install CCTV infrastructure.
· Install access control cabling.
Surveying
· Carry out site surveys.
· Assess containment routes.
· Produce material lists.
· Identify installation risks.
Documentation
· Update cable schedules.
· Complete installation reports.
· Record test results.
· Update floor plans where required.
Health \& Safety
· Follow company Health \& Safety procedures.
· Carry out risk assessments.
· Complete method statements.
· Work safely at height.
· Use PPE correctly.
· Comply with CDM Regulations.
Required Skills
Essential
· Installation of Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A systems.
· Copper and fibre testing.
· Ability to interpret technical drawings.
· Understanding of structured cabling standards.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Good communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
· Fibre optic installation.
· CCTV installation.
· Access control installation.
· Network switch installation.
· Wi\-Fi survey experience (Ekahau experience desirable).
· Experience with Motorola Solutions/Avigilon infrastructure.
· Wireless access point mounting and commissioning
Qualifications
Essential
· ECS/CSCS Card
· Full UK Driving Licence
· Manual Handling
· Working at Height
Experience
· Minimum 2 years of structured cabling installation experience.
· Experience in commercial environments.
· Familiarity with structured cabling standards including TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC.

Pay: £28,000\.00\-£38,000\.00 per year
