We are looking for a talented Street Lighting Designer to join our team and play a key role in designing innovative, sustainable, and energy\-efficient lighting solutions for highways, public spaces, and urban environments.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of infrastructure projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop technically robust designs that enhance safety, improve efficiency, and support the transition to smarter, greener networks.

What you'll be doing

As a Street Lighting Designer, you'll be responsible for producing high\-quality lighting designs and supporting projects throughout their lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

• Designing street lighting schemes for highways, roads, junctions, pedestrian areas, and public spaces.


• Producing lighting calculations using industry\-standard software such as Lighting Reality, DIALux evo, or AGi32\.


• Preparing detailed lighting layouts, specifications, technical reports, and construction drawings using CAD software.


• Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards, client requirements, and health and safety legislation.


• Selecting suitable lighting columns, luminaires, brackets, foundations, and control systems.


• Undertaking site surveys and assessments to evaluate existing infrastructure and project constraints.


• Working closely with highways, civil, electrical, and utility engineers to coordinate design delivery.


• Supporting planning applications, technical approvals, and construction activities by providing technical advice and responding to design queries.


• Promoting sustainable and energy\-efficient solutions, including LED lighting, smart controls, and carbon reduction initiatives.


• Maintaining accurate design documentation and supporting continuous improvement across projects.

Essential:

• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.


• Experience in street lighting or highway electrical design.


• Knowledge of relevant street lighting standards and regulations.


• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.


• Experience using lighting design software.


• Understanding of electrical distribution and highway infrastructure.


• Strong analytical, problem\-solving, and communication skills.


• Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.


• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as required.

• SMSTS or equivalent health and safety qualification.


• G39 and 214 Safe Isolation certification.


• Highways Electrical Association (HEA) Approved Person Card.


• Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and designer responsibilities.
