Strategy & Sustainability Intelligence Analyst

Help shape VITO’s sustainability and strategic impact

At VITO, we believe science and innovation should create measurable impact for society and the planet. To strengthen our strategic decision\-making and sustainability ambitions, we are looking for a Strategy \& Sustainability Intelligence Analyst who enjoys transforming complex data into meaningful insights and smarter processes.

In this role, you sit at the crossroads of sustainability, strategy, analytics, and innovation management. You work closely with stakeholders across the organisation and help translate non\-financial and strategic data into dashboards, analyses, and decision\-support for management.

Think of it as being part analyst, part process architect, part sustainability navigator

Your role

• Sustainability \& Carbon Footprint

You contribute to the monitoring and improvement of VITO’s sustainability performance by:

• Coordinating and updating VITO’s annual carbon footprint calculation using the existing methodology


• Supporting and coordinating the annual carbon footprint audit


• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to monitor and support sustainability initiatives across the organisation

2\. Strategic Intelligence \& Non\-Financial Reporting

You help turn strategic and sustainability data into actionable insights by:

• Collecting, consolidating, and structuring non\-financial and strategic data across the organisation


• Supporting the quarterly update and interpretation of strategic KPIs and Balanced Scorecard metrics


• Developing and maintaining dashboards that provide management with clear strategic insights


• Analysing trends, performance, and impact data to support decision\-making

3\. Portfolio Management \& Strategic Processes

You take ownership of VITO’s portfolio management process and tooling by:

• Managing and continuously improving the portfolio management tool and related processes


• Coordinating the annual portfolio cycle


• Supporting users and stakeholders throughout the process


• Translating portfolio outputs into clear decision frameworks for prioritisation and investment discussions

4\. Automation \& AI Enablement

You actively look for smarter ways of working across all responsibilities by:

• Identifying opportunities for automation in data collection, validation, reporting, and consolidation


• Leveraging dashboards, automation workflows, and AI\-enabled solutions where relevant


• Helping shift the focus from manual reporting toward interpretation, analysis, and strategic dialogue

What you bring

You are analytically strong, structured, and curious by nature. You enjoy improving processes and translating complexity into clarity.

You also recognise yourself in the following:

• You enjoy working with data and transforming it into insights and decision support


• You have a strong affinity with sustainability, strategy, and organisational impact


• You naturally look for opportunities to optimise, automate, and streamline processes


• You feel comfortable interacting with stakeholders across research, operations, and management


• You combine analytical thinking with a pragmatic, hands\-on mindset

Your background

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in economics, business administration, engineering, sustainability, data analytics, or a related field


• Approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in areas such as consulting, business intelligence, sustainability, PMO, portfolio management, or data analysis


• Experience with or strong interest in:

+ Carbon footprinting
+ Dashboarding and reporting
+ Data consolidation and interpretation
+ Automation and process improvement
+ Portfolio management
+ Audit processes

• Good professional knowledge of English. Dutch is considered a strong asset.
