Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Store Manager to lead our retail outlet. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, buying and selling, manage staff, and ensure excellent customer service. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and the ability to drive sales while maintaining high standards of merchandising and store presentation. The Store Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive team environment and achieving business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the store team to deliver outstanding customer service and meet sales targets.
- Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, being a keyholder for alarm management, stock management, and visual merchandising.
- Supervise staff performance, provide coaching, training, and conduct appraisals to promote professional development.
- Organise staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage during trading hours.
- Implement sales strategies to maximise revenue and improve overall store performance.
- Maintain effective communication with team members and head office to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee stock replenishment, inventory control, and loss prevention measures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Analyse sales data and prepare reports for senior management to inform decision\-making.
- Negotiate with customers bringing in their pre\-owned goods into the store.
- Purchase the products at a competitive price that are going to be profitable selling in the store.
- Keep up\-to\-date with market trends.
- Have the ability to understand our good buying philosophy and testing competence that demonstrates sound business sense to increase the margin and profitability of the store, whilst controlling costs, to ensure business targets are achieved.
- Provide a high standard of customer service at all times.
- Resolve problems where possible and carry out effective in\-store demonstrations to generate interest and achieve retail profit sales.
- Proven management experience within retail or similar environments, with a focus on team management and supervising staff.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in merchandising, sales management, and administrative duties.
- Exceptional time management skills with the capacity to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Proficiency in using retail management software and basic administrative tools.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Organised, proactive, with a positive attitude towards team development and problem\-solving. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a vibrant retail team while contributing to the success of our organisation through effective management and strategic planning.
- A grounding in technology (phones, laptops, etc.) is a big advantage.
- Experience in working with jewellery and watches alongside the buying and selling of gold is desirable.
- Previous sales or buying experience is advantageous. Having worked in a pawnbroking or similar environment would also be highly desirable and advantageous.
