Accountabilities:

As a Staff Python Engineer, you will contribute to the long-term technical evolution of the Document Domain while driving engineering excellence across teams. You will balance product requirements, scalability, reliability, and developer experience to create robust solutions and establish strong technical foundations.

  • Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for the Document Domain, ensuring scalable architecture and reliable product evolution.

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex backend systems using Python and modern engineering practices.

  • Lead initiatives that improve system reliability, performance, maintainability, and developer productivity.

  • Champion AI-powered development workflows by helping engineers adopt effective tools and practices to improve speed and quality.

  • Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to align architecture decisions and deliver impactful document capabilities.

  • Mentor engineers by sharing technical knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting their professional growth.

  • Identify technical challenges, define strategic plans, and execute initiatives with a one-year horizon.

  • Improve developer experience through better tooling, engineering standards, monitoring, and operational practices.

  • Contribute throughout the full development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and implementation to deployment and monitoring.

Requirements


The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong Python expertise, deep knowledge of distributed systems, and the ability to influence technical direction across teams. You should be comfortable working on complex platforms, mentoring engineers, and communicating technical concepts clearly.
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience with strong Python expertise.

  • Extensive hands-on experience building backend applications and scalable software systems.

  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, including SQL, migrations, query optimization, and data modeling.

  • Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures using technologies such as RabbitMQ, NATS, or Kafka.

  • Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles and asynchronous programming patterns.

  • Strong familiarity with modern development practices, including deployment processes, monitoring, and production operations.

  • Experience working with cloud environments, preferably AWS, and containerized infrastructures such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Ability to leverage AI development workflows effectively and use AI tools to improve personal and team productivity.

  • Proven mentoring experience and ability to support the growth of other engineers.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across distributed engineering teams.
