On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long\-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland. About the Organisation:PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

The Post:

We offer comprehensive education and training for staff, supply the necessary tools and data to enhance service quality, and oversee essential national operations including procurement, logistics, and blood, tissue, and cell services.

In this role, you will support the effective management and smooth delivery of whole blood, platelet, and plasma collection sessions, ensuring every donor feels welcomed, comfortable, and valued. During whole blood sessions, responsibilities will include venepuncture and medical selection. Within apheresis services, you will assess donor suitability for platelet and plasma donation, including evaluation of venous access and predicted platelet yield.

The Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated and forward\-thinking nurse who thrives in a team environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, along with a keen interest in training and quality assurance.

You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours will include Sundays and regular late evenings. In addition to donor\-facing responsibilities, the post involves assisting with the set\-up of community donation sessions. This may include the manual handling of equipment cages or trolleys of up to 60kg, undertaken safely with a colleague and without mechanical aid. Full training will be provided to support all aspects of the role.

*The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.*

*Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.*

Location and Working Pattern:

As part of the Donor Services Blood Collection Team based in Glasgow, the role involves regular travel across the West of Scotland. A flexible approach is essential, with working hours varying to meet service needs, including evenings, weekends, Sundays, and public holidays

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK for the post in which you will be employed.
