Staff Nurse - Emergency Care and Medical Specialties

The role:
Ward 18 is a 28\-bedded inpatient ward within ECMS Medical Specialities at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, providing care for patients with complex gastroenterology conditions and those following a general medical pathway. The ward offers a dynamic and supportive learning environment where nursing staff develop expertise in managing liver disease, ascitic drainage systems and inflammatory bowel disease. The team benefits from close collaboration with the Hepatology Nurse Specialist and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Nurse Specialist teams, ensuring high\-quality, specialist care is delivered to patients.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a permanent post working full time hours (36\)
- These hours will be worked on a rotational shift pattern
- You will be based within Royal Alexandra Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses to join the Ward 18 nursing team. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, ensuring a safe, effective and person\-centred approach is maintained at all times. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support patients with complex gastroenterology and general medical needs, contributing to positive patient outcomes and an enhanced patient experience through the Excellence in Care framework.
You will work closely with nursing colleagues, specialist nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high\-quality care and support patients throughout their healthcare journey. The role requires you to contribute positively to ward culture, demonstrate professional accountability and support the continuous development of services. You will be encouraged to use initiative, embrace innovation and actively participate in service improvement activities.
The role involves monitoring patient progress, supporting clinical interventions, maintaining accurate documentation and promoting a positive patient experience. You will contribute to maintaining a positive ward culture, participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- Registered Nurse with a valid UK NMC registration.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to delivering person\-centred care and improving patient outcomes.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to team dynamics.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload in a busy clinical environment.
- Post\-registration experience within gastroenterology and/or general medicine.
- Experience managing patients with liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease or complex medical conditions.
- Knowledge of the Excellence in Care framework.
- Experience participating in service improvement or quality improvement initiatives.
