We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Staff Restaurant Manager to lead the Staff \& Artists dining operation at the Royal Opera House.

This is a high\-volume, multi\-outlet operation generating annual revenue of approximately £800,000–£1 million. Serving the people who bring the Royal Opera House to life, the operation must provide consistently excellent food, coffee and service in a fast\-paced and distinctive environment.

The operation

The Staff \& Artists Restaurant includes:

• A large staff restaurant and terrace


• An extensive daily selection of hot dishes, salads and sandwiches


• Confectionery and grab\-and\-go ranges


• A busy, high\-volume coffee bar


• A smaller café offering a simpler food and beverage range

The Restaurant Manager will lead and develop a team of approximately 20 front\-of\-house and kitchen colleagues, creating a well\-run, welcoming operation that meets the varied needs of Royal Opera House employees, artists and performers.

The role

Reporting to the senior operations team, you will take full ownership of the day\-to\-day performance of the Staff \& Artists Restaurant and its associated café.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, motivating and developing a multidisciplinary team of approximately 20 front\-of\-house and kitchen colleagues


• Ensuring consistently high standards of food presentation, service, cleanliness and hospitality


• Managing a busy operation with annual revenue of £800,000–£1 million


• Planning rotas and deploying the team effectively in line with demand, performance schedules and operational requirements


• Managing labour, stock, waste and controllable costs


• Working closely with the culinary team to maintain an attractive, varied and commercially effective food offer


• Ensuring the coffee bar delivers excellent quality and efficient service during peak periods


• Developing the grab\-and\-go, retail and café offers in response to customer demand


• Coaching managers and team members, setting clear expectations and addressing performance appropriately


• Maintaining full compliance with food safety, health and safety, allergen and licensing requirements


• Monitoring sales and customer feedback and identifying opportunities
